OUR CEO - ANDY GILL

As I entered my teenage years, my parent’s mental health began to deteriorate to the point where they struggled with day-to-day life. I found myself needing somewhere, away from my own home, where I would be supported at a key moment in my life.

It was around this time that I joined my local church youth group, run by a group of young adults, some of whom were paid and some voluntary. They offered genuine care, support, and friendship to so many young people, including me. We were welcomed into their homes, given support when needed and opportunities to gain new skills and experiences. Whether it was church on Sunday, various mid-week groups, or the Friday night youth club, there was often something to do - an activity to help lead, or someone to drop-in on. Over the next few years, I spent most of my free time as part of this extended family, feeling like I was at home.

It was this experience as a young person that provided me with the blueprint and inspiration to help establish the work of Leatherhead Youth Project (LYP) 16 years ago, and now Relational Hub. The Relational Hub model is based on the Key Principles* learned from my experience as a young person and over a decade of delivering drop-in sessions, five days a week. Since then, I’ve also seen hundreds of young people given life changing support and opportunities through our partner hubs across the country.

OUR VISION & MISSION

Our vision is to see every young person in the UK aged 11-17 having the opportunity to access professional, relationship based youth services where they can receive the support and opportunities they need in order to thrive in all areas of life.
Our Mission is to support Churches to create thriving community youth work projects that provide a welcoming and relational space for young people after school, becoming a home-away-from-home for the young people who need one most.

JAKE TUCKER - THIRST YOUTH CAFE

"Andy's support over the past two years has transformed our organisation, giving me the confidence to plan for the future and grow our team from one to six members of staff. Most importantly, Relational Hub's support and tools have helped us provide even better support and opportunities to the young people who attend Thirst Youth Cafe."

HOLLY BYLES - THE WELL, CLAYGATE

"From our initial conversations, Andy Gill has been personable, passionate and proactive. The prospect of and subsequent decision to partner with Relational Hubs has been a smooth journey, made so by Andy’s willingness to work openly and flexibly.
On numerous occasions Andy has used his previous experience, knowledge and expertise to problem-solve and strategise ways of moving things forward, in line with our shared vision."

SAM HARDING - BELL TOWER DROP-IN

“It has been such a pleasure to have worked with Andy and to have become a partner of Relational Hub, adopting its model over the two years. With the hands on assistance from Andy, we have produced a detailed strategic plan for the next three years to extend our work, re-shaped and streamlined our policies and vision statements, recorded a top quality promotional video, renovated the interior of our drop-in centre with new top of the range equipment and decor. As well as running numerous training evenings for our team of volunteers and staff. Andy has brought to our attention and recruited a new part-time youth worker, who will be working to run after hours mentoring and extra curricular activities, revamped schools work and drop-in sessions.

LUKE ANDREWS - LIFE YOUTH HUB

"In Life Youth Hub's first year, we have seen over 350 young people attend over 380 sessions, from 8 different schools. None of this would have been possible without the help and support from Andy at Relational Hub. When we first contacted Andy, we were a team of people who wanted to make a difference in our community. But with no idea of how to do this, nor set up a drop-in, engage with schools or receive funding. Now, with Andy's support, we are running a three day a week drop-in, seeing on average 45 young people a day. We are working closely with our local schools, council and police, and we are seeing young people's lives changed.
